Employers Value Marketing Majors
Marketing is an exciting, dynamic process through which customer needs and wants are determined and satisfied through the conception, development, promotion, exchange, and distribution of goods and services. The undergraduate program in marketing provides students with fundamental preparation in general marketing and an understanding of markets and customers, product development, pricing strategies, advertising and promotion, and methods of distribution. The program also develops the student’s capacity to solve managerial problems in marketing and prepares men and women to enter careers in the field. A wide range of career opportunities is available to marketing graduates. Marketing management is often the path to the top of the business organization. Entry-level positions are available in selling, product development, advertising, promotion, physical distribution, industrial marketing, marketing research, customer service, and many other specialties. Donor Database Administrator - Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta
"I am a current graduate of GSU and currently employed at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. My current role at CHOA is as a donor database administrator, where I develop effective and efficient systems to manage data connections and transfers between our software...
Georgia State has prepared me for this role by allowing me to network with many different students on the same path as myself and the professors at Georgia State, like Professor Herbst-Lucke, who created projects where we worked with real companies to develop innovative ways to strengthen their marketing initiatives."
Inside Sales Marketing Coordinator - NCR
"At NCR, I am in charge of internal marketing materials for all North America, including Canada, in the banking sector. I align with marketing operations and campaign teams to optimize inside sales communications. My time in Robinson has taught me about professional and personal branding...
lso, networking, resume building, and data-driven presentations practice are the skills that helped me score a job with NCR. Within five months of starting as a University Hire in an entry-level inside sales role, I was able to obtain a promotion to my current position with those skills. I am grateful for my professors and career advisors at GSU, make the most of every relationship, and challenge yourself to step outside of your comfort zone!"
Account Executive, Director of Site Selection & Contract Negotiations - Meeting Expectations
"While working towards my Marketing degree, there were two specific courses that made a huge impact and have helped me be successful in my current career. Marketing Research piqued my interest as my major project for the semester...
was to help Moe’s as they were looking to expand and grow while undergoing a major brand refresh. I enjoyed learning about different buyer behaviors based on survey sampling and presenting our feedback to the organization for consideration. Hospitality Law was an elective course I took that opened my eyes to an industry that is people oriented and formed my foundation of business ethics. My professor for this class made a profound impact on me and we are still contact today, considering her a trusted advisor. The knowledge I gained at GSU, specifically in these 2 classes, have been used throughout my career and helped me launch my career at The Ritz-Carlton Hotels of Atlanta. I am grateful to be a GSU alumni. Go Panthers!"
