The Atlanta City Theatre, Georgia State’s student-run theatre group, partnered with OutFront Theatre for a collaborative production of “Xanadu.” For three weeks, Georgia State students understudied the professional cast. In the fourth week, they took over the stage, closing out the run as the main performers. Working hand-in-hand brought our students the chance to learn directly from the pros. Actors and crew built relationships with each other and strengthened their own resumes with professional experience. After 18 months of darkened stages, the lights are back on for Atlanta City Theatre.

“I’m thankful for the knowledge, skills and abilities I’ve learned while earning my degree in Film and Media. I implemented what I learned to create a 51 minute documentary where I directed, wrote the script, created storyboards, conducted interviews, researched and cited references, shot free hand on my iPhone, edited and now we have several committed entities that are interested in premiering it in museums, colleges and universities. I’ve also been broached with submitting to film festivals.”.
